Nociceptive Inhibition via Functionalized Sodium Alginate
This research explores a potential localized approach to pain modulation using functionalized sodium alginate and Drosophila melanogaster as a model system. Our work investigates whether targeted delivery of a biomaterial-based system could inhibit nociceptive signaling without causing permanent neuronal damage.
The project combines neuroscience, biomaterials engineering, and peptide chemistry with experimental techniques including microinjection, fluorescence imaging, and evaluation of specimen viability.
